Therapeutic Support

Featuring equine therapy and counseling, each school is also a holistic therapeutic program – we deal with the issues in the girls’ lives that are causing them to act out.  We help them become mentally sound, responsible, respectful, honest, emotionally balanced, and socially adjusted.

Educational, Emotional, and Spiritual Recovery

“These therapeutic schools are effective, lower in cost, and highly caring alternatives to the more expensive ones.” — Editors of BestTherapeuticBoardingSchools.com

We establish solution-focused therapy techniques to help each student overcome their unique life-controlling problems. This approach allows us to address lifelong problems in a comparatively short program.  Our trained staff work with students to develop regular goals. These goals are agreed upon by the student and are intended to illuminate problem areas and help them find practical alternative solutions to problem areas in their lives.

As a result of trauma, adolescents tend to react in a cycle of hyper-alertness and hyper-avoidance to perceived threats. They may act out by being aggressive or by taking risks. They can also “act in” by giving up control to a peer group.  Our Trauma-Informed Care recognizes the full spectrum of responses to trauma and creates an environment where teens feel safe to recover.

Trauma-Informed Care is a consistent form of care that is therapeutic in nature. The techniques we use help address the girl’s threat bias.  We prioritize building healthy relationships with each student —”connection before correction”— where girls can feel emotionally safe.  They feel reassured that they belong, have significance, and are being heard.

We do have parameters about acceptable behaviors, and those are mostly about physical safety. We strive to help students share control in all areas of their lives. In school, teachers help students feel safe in the classroom and offer a variety of ways to learn and achieve their academic goals. We have a gentle routine that helps teach teens to learn to choose and form relaxing habits. Day by day, Trauma-Informed Care helps teens move from needing external controls to having autonomy over their own choices.

Our Calling is to Help Girls Who Need Guidance or a Restart

When girls start spinning out of control, they usually exhibit signs which parents need to look for.  Girls that most benefit from our program come to us after the parents observe the following changes in their girl’s attitude and behavior:

  • Dramatic changes in appearance, attitudes, and desires
  • Hanging out with the wrong crowd
  • School tardiness and/or truancies, loss of good grades
  • Isolating from family and old friends
  • Changes in attitude and personality, lack of care
  • Forsaking previous future goals and positive activities
  • Experimentation with harmful substances
  • Sudden fits of anger or rage, disrespect for authority
  • Lies, manipulation, theft
  • Dramatic mood swings and lack of sleep
  • Shocking loss of a moral compass

All of our staff are trained to work effectively with adolescents who have experienced emotional or behavioral challenges, using proven, relationship-focused techniques that promote healing and growth. Our approach is built on three core priorities: connection, support, and guidance.

Connection is at the heart of everything we do. We focus on building secure, trusting relationships through consistent, respectful communication and responsive interaction. This helps each student feel safe, heard, and valued.

Support involves meeting both the physical and emotional needs of our students through predictable routines, healthy boundaries, and opportunities to develop important life skills. We emphasize structure and consistency to help students gain confidence and self-control.

Guidance is offered through firm but compassionate redirection. Rather than relying on shame or harsh consequences, we help students understand the impact of their actions and encourage personal responsibility, decision-making, and positive change.

This thoughtful and supportive environment fosters emotional stability and personal growth, helping each student move toward a healthier, more hopeful future.

Our Exceptional Education Program

Teen ChallengeOur residential programs and schools help girls get back on the right track educationally as well as learning that they have a higher purpose and calling on this Earth. We surround our students all day long with a Christian environment designed to help facilitate life change through our team’s witness and guidance.

Our educational program is fully accredited by COGNIA and tailored to meet each student’s specific needs.  Students who complete high school receive an official high school diploma. Credits are transferable. On-site teachers track student progress, tutor students, and offer additional aids to learning as needed. Students who give their best effort in academics are recognized for their achievements and may earn additional rewards.

We also facilitate our own faith-based character-building courses with the girls (individually and in groups), which are a key aspect of our overall program.  We utilize landmark curriculum by today’s leading Christian authors and therapists to teach key concepts for successful living.  Each campus offers unique opportunities to engage in activities to help your teen discover her purpose and value.

CogniaOur schools utilize a faith-friendly academic curriculum designed to give students access to their highest potential with Honors and Advanced Placement (AP) course options and credit recovery for students who have lagged in their education.
